Hooking for sanity

Writer: Ellen Skea MarshallEllen Skea Marshall

I have been hooking a lot to bring some sense of calm to all of the chaotic news that we are all bombarded with during these horrific storms.

My heart goes out to all of the animals that are currently effected by the storm devastation in North Carolina ,Georgia,Tennesee and Florida. Some people are having to make the hard choice of abandoning their animals. That leaves the animal rescue people with even more than they can realistically care for. I know that some animal shelters have offered to have animals shipped to safer areas to help with the overburdened facilities. This won't be everyone's story however.

Together we can make a small contribution that may provide food, shelter and vet care that is urgently needed. Upon purchasing one of the three patterns shown here, $10 of your purchase money will be matched by me awarding the Best Friends Society $20 total for each pattern sold. Now with the newest hurricane, Milton, about to make landfall tonight I am going to extend this origianl offer ending Oct 13 to now be Oct. 20, 2024. They are in need of the money now to help support all of the efforts needed to help secure the safety of animals in their care.

This is but a small gesture to be sure, but as you hook your pattern you can put all of the love and caring into your project sending your positive thoughts for the best outcome for all of these animals in crisis. This situation is totally out of their control and they are scared and wondering what is happening to them.

I want to acknowledge the folks who have already purchased a pattern and the total amount collected , along with my contribution, will be sent on Oct 21, 2024.

Gracie and I thank you!

I hand dye all of my wool in small batches in my Maine home kitchen. Each color is unique to my process. All hand dyes are different for different makers. The pots used, the water, the dyes and combination of dyes make for unique colors for each individual hand dyer.

"Wonderfully hand dyed colors. So pretty I almost don’t want to cut into them…but just sit and sigh at the softness of the wool and beautiful muted tones…. Fast Shipping and a very pleasant transaction!"
