I promised I’d share more about Get Hooked at Sea, a fabulous opportunity to sail on the historic schooner, the J&E Riggin, out of Rockland, Maine. Are you looking to escape the daily grind? Do you want to feel the ocean breeze on your face and soak in the stunning beauty of the Maine coast? Penobscot Bay is the perfect place for that!

Connect with Fellow Rug Hookers

What’s even more enticing? Spending time with fellow rug hookers! We learn, eat, sleep, and bask in the beauty that only the sea can provide. There’s a calm that washes over you as we sail around the islands in the Bay.

Culinary Delights on Board

And let’s talk about the food! Oh, the food! It’s all prepared in the galley on a wood cookstove. You’ll find yourself wondering, “How did she do that?” The breads, soups, seafood, and treats—oh my! You’ll never go hungry.

Every time the bell rings, it’s like a little celebration as Jocelyn comes up on deck to share the local dishes she has prepared. Got food allergies? Gluten-free? Or just picky? No problem! Jocelyn is incredibly accommodating to everyone’s tastes and needs. It’s like having your own personal chef on board.

No need to worry about what to prepare next; she takes care of it all and then some!

The Hooking Experience

Now, let’s get to the hooking! We provide everything you need, except for your favorite hook and small scissors. Our teachers go above and beyond to ensure you’re happy with your project(s). The time and care they invest is truly phenomenal.

This September, we’ll have Haley Perry joining us again. She was on one of our earlier trips, and everyone learned so much from her. We know she has some fantastic ideas for this trip too!

Unforgettable Experiences Await

The experience? Well, it’s one you won’t soon forget. In fact, many people who have sailed with us before come back again and again because it’s just so much fun!

Do you need sailing experience? Not at all! You can help raise the sails and participate in the work it takes to sail this historic windjammer. Prefer to watch and take photos? That’s perfectly fine too! But I bet you’ll want to jump in at least once to see what all the laughter is about.
